Dating from about 1890 when Queen Victoria was on the British Throne and the Empire at its height, this chest is of excellent construction. Typical of its period, with solid Victorian values, this chest is stoutly built of good quality pine. The original finish would have been red ochre graining and polish. At some time (probably fairly recently) a distressed pale creamy-gray color paint finish has been applied. More details … | |
