The English polished mahogany dining table from the 1820’s sits easily with American chairs made a century later in Oklahoma. The pine hutch, or dresser, is English from about 1850 with some later work. A variety of plates from the 19th and 20th century are displayed there. An 18th century American spongeware bowl is the oldest piece in the room. On the walls, there are watercolors from Woodbridge, Suffolk and an ancient plate from Brittany. The handmade standard lamp and shade have been in our family for more than 50 years.
The pine dresser sitting along the wall next to the kitchen is of mid 19th century Irish origin and is now fitted with shelves to store dry goods and glassware.
To the left of the door leading to the living room is a treasured letter from Edward Fitzgerald, the poet, to Fred Whisstock concerning a card case Fred had made for him. The letter is dated 1881
